The birth of a Pearl.

The cultivation of the mother of Pearl oysters from the Tuamotu and the Gambier archipelagoes requires an absolute severity:

  • After the collection of the spats of oysters (young oysters of 2/3cm), 3 years are necessary to reach the size for grafting ( 11 to 12cm).
  • 15 to 20 months more years of constant attention will be necessary before the oyster will release her gem.
The different natural hues are due to the iridescence of the mother of pearl and to the mineral salts of the Polynesian lagoons.

The beauty of a Pearl.

The criteria that permits the appraisal of a Tahitian cultured Pearl are : the shape, the size, the purity, the color and the luster.

The shape:
A perfectly spherical pearl is the most expensive, because of it's great rarity. Other shapes quite stunning such as the pear, the button, the baroque or the circled have also seduced the most unconditional admirers.

The size:
The majority of the pearls gathered in Polynesia are between 8mm to 12mm in diameter. Occasionally, some may reach as much as 18mm. Their value increases with their size, no matter what their form.

The purity:
The purity is appraised by the degree of limpidity, by the lack of flaws, by the luster and by the orient.

The color:
Authentically natural, the Tahitian cultured pearl displays an infinity of subtly delicate shadings from silvery white, passing through every imaginable hue of gray, delicately tinged with blue, pink to a deep luminous green. Each Pearl is unique, this makes it an incomparable Gem to accompany and highlight a woman's beauty.

Nevertheless these criterias in no way replaces the instant emotional affinity, the irresistible pull of amorous attraction that draws beetween a woman to her pearl.

Care instructions

The Tahitian cultured pearl likes to be worn…One must remember, however, that perfumes, hairsprays and the skin's natural acidity can dull the luster. Also, please be strongly advised against wearing pearls while bathing in a swimming pool or in the sea. To maintain its beauty; it is recommended that a pearl should be stored in a protective jewel case avoiding contact with other jewelery. It is also recommended to wash the pearl occasionally in clear water and dry it with a soft cloth. Thus cared for, it will retain all its radiance.
